San Elizario is the Only Top Ten Comprehensive High School in El Paso
SAN ELIZARIO, TX – San Elizario High School (SEHS) has once again been ranked among the finest in El Paso. In the U.S. News & World Report of Best High Schools, SEHS ranked 147th out of the 1,481 Texas high schools ranked. In the national ranking, SEHS ranked 1,346. Locally, in the El Paso region, SEHS ranked 8th out of 54 schools and is the only comprehensive high school listed in the top ten along with other early college high schools. The principal of San Elizario High School, Mrs. April Marioni, states, “This recognition motivates us to continue offering various programs, so all students are prepared for post-Secondary opportunities when they leave SEHS.”
U.S. News ranked approximately 17,843 public high schools out of approximately 23,800 reviewed. Review of data included statewide math and reading level assessment tests as well as high school graduation rates in order to arrive at the 2022 rankings. The six criteria reviewed were based on the following: College Readiness; College Curriculum Breadth; Math and Reading Proficiency; Math and Reading Performance; Underserved Student Performance; and Graduation Rate.
SEHS has a total minority enrollment of 99.6%, and 88% of students are economically disadvantaged. The graduation rate for SEHS is 86% with a 76.3% for college readiness. Principal April Marioni states, “This recognition is due to the collective efforts of all stakeholders at San Elizario High School. SEHS supports students in courses that prepare them to be “College and Career Ready” by graduation.”
