New Leader in Charge of San Elizario High School

The San Elizario Independent School District is proud to name Mrs. April Marioni as the new principal at San Elizario High School. With 22 years of experience in public schools, she is a former special education teacher, assistant principal, and most recently the principal of the Garcia Enriquez Middle School where she served for 8 years.

Mrs. Marioni holds a Bachelor’s in Theology, a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology; and a Master of Arts in Guidance & Counseling. Her philosophy on education centers around the renowned quote that “All children can learn.” Marioni states, “As educators, we are tasked with creating an optimal learning environment, supporting students with various interventions, understanding diverse social / emotional issues, and providing effective instruction in order to meet the needs of all learners. When we can help students feel confident and loved, they will feel the sense of urgency needed to take advantage of all educational opportunities.”

Mrs. April Marioni attributes her educational success to her parents, Jesus & Olivia Soliz of Big Lake, Texas, who exemplified a strong work ethic and high moral standards. Her latter accomplishments are attributed to the support and encouragement she receives from her family.

Marioni’s 8 years of leadership at Ann M. Garcia Enriquez Middle School demonstrated strong academic results. The middle school campus assessment scores for the last accountability cycle showed significant gains in all areas of math, reading, writing, science, and social studies.  Superintendent Dr. Jeannie Meza-Chavez states, “Mrs. Marioni is a proven leader whose collaboration with colleagues yields positive academic and social results for students.” Marioni will be leading the planning year 1 for the San Elizario High School Early College High School, which is expected to go through a planning phase in partnership the El Paso Community College.
