The Ann M. Garcia Enriquez Middle School (GEMS) was excited as students, teachers, and families gathered to celebrate the culmination of months of scientific inquiry at their annual Science Fair. This year's event, which showcased the talents of 7th and 8th-grade students, highlighted a diverse array of projects that tackled real-world issues with ingenuity and creativity.

Over 100 students participated, bringing their unique perspectives to their scientific endeavors. From investigating environmental impacts to exploring technological innovations, the projects spanned various topics reflecting the student's interests and passions.

The winning projects in both the 7th and 8th-grade categories were not only innovative and meticulously researched, but they also demonstrated practical applications. This highlights the Science Fair's commitment to fostering scientific leaders who can address real-world problems with their knowledge and skills.

Reflecting on the importance of science, Mr. Ulises Neira Galaviz, District Instructional Officer, and Science Fair Coordinator expressed, “A campus science and engineering fair instills a scientific mindset in the individual students and campus community overall. This long-term process promotes the use of the scientific method, the engineering design process, and investigative approaches to discovering solutions to problems that students identify as affecting society currently.”

The event was supported by Insights Science Discovery, an organization dedicated to fostering scientific exploration among students across the region. Through involvement in the Sun Country Regional Science and Engineering Fair, students can showcase their projects at broader levels, gaining exposure and recognition for their scientific achievements.

Participating in the Science Fair is a transformative experience for many students. As they step into the roles of scientists and engineers, they gain valuable skills and insights that can shape their future career paths in STEM. This highlights the Science Fair's role in preparing our students for the future.

The Ann M. Garcia Enriquez Middle School Science Fair is a platform for scholarly excellence and a testament to the school community's commitment to nurturing the next generation of scientific leaders. As students proudly displayed their findings and discoveries, it was clear that the spirit of inquiry and innovation was alive and thriving at Enriquez Middle School. Volunteers to help with next year's science fair are welcome.
