The School

San Elizario High School is a public school located in San Elizario, Texas. The town of San Elizario, one of the most historically rich areas of West Texas. San Elizario is located twenty-five miles southeast of downtown El Paso, Texas. The city of El Paso, Texas is situated in West Texas and borders Mexico and New Mexico. San Elizario is in a low social-economic area, composed of Mexican Americans, new immigrants from Mexico and South American, and migrants from the United States and Mexico.

Students graduating from San Elizario High School have taken monumental steps within the last five years. There have been significant increases in the number of students taking the PSAT, SAT I,and ACT tests. The percent of students attending two and four year colleges and universities has also increased.

There are 190 seniors in the current graduating class. The following statistics are based on information from the graduating class of 2006. 70% of the graduates were admitted to college. Of the 70%, 50% enrolled at El Paso Community College and 20% enrolled at a four-year university. While the 10% enrolled in the military, 5% enrolled in a technical school and 5% joined the work force. The current enrolled population at San Elizario for grades 9th-12th, is approximately 1,000 students 99% of which are Hispanic. All students at San Elizario High School receive or are eligible to receive free or reduced lunch.

At San Elizario High School, our mission and goal is to encourage and prepare students for a post secondary education.

San Elizario High School offers Pre-Ap and AP courses. Students taking Pre-AP and AP courses earn a weighted grade. The high school assigns an individual rank and grade point average on a semester basis. Students earn 10 points per weighted course per semester if she/he passes the course.
